Nikle jo suraj hazar ek saath,

Jitna bhi un sabka ho prakash.

Magar uski tulna mein shayad hee ho,

📜 Translation English

If a thousand suns were to rise simultaneously in the sky, even then all their effulgence combined together would probably not be equivalent to the radiance of that cosmic form of the Supreme.

💬 Commentary English

The Supreme is the supreme lights of all lights (Gita 3/17). He is the primal source of all kinds of luminaries like the sun, the moon and fire (Gita 15/12); the radiance in all of them is dependent on the Supreme. Out of these, the luminosity of none is independent; thousands of stars cannot combine to compare with the radiance of the moon. The luminosity of thousands of moons cannot be equivalent to the radiance of the sun; similar indication is being given by Sanjay pertaining to the vast radiance of the Supreme:

Sanjay has somewhat tried to provide direction about it; but there is nothing which can compare with the Supreme. The Supreme power is beyond all definitions and comparisons. Sanjay too in his indicative style has not said anything specific with certainty. He did not say that the radiance of a thousand suns is like that of the Supreme. Otherwise, you can try to estimate how much the light of one sun is. Any artificial light howsoever powerful it may be, cannot stand in comparison to that of the sun. If a thousand such suns blaze forth simultaneously then what kind of radiance will that be like? Try to bring this on the canvas of your mind and then reflect on what Sanjay has said-that radiance can perhaps not be compared with the radiance of the boundless Supreme, i. e. that there is only a hint of similarity but do not take it as a complete similarity.

O aware reader of the Gita! Deliberate for a while. When the Supreme is such a divine mass of effulgence and He is ours and is with us, is in us in the form the real self (soul), even then we should keep getting bewildered in the darkness of ignorance; is this right? Come and let us move ahead in the divine light of such a glorious inspiration from darkness to light! From worldly anxieties towards the divine contemplation.

Whatever Arjun saw, Sanjay is narrating the live commentary of the same; it is definite that Sanjay too is viewing. A joyful inspiration for us follows through further description by Sanjay-
