sakheti matvā prasabham yaduktam he kṛṣņa he yadava he sakheti
ajānatā mahimānam tavedam mayā pramādātpraņayena vāpi
yaccāvahāsārthamasatkṛto'si vihāraśayyāsanabhojaneşu
eko'thavāpyacyuta tatsamakşam tatkşāmaye tvāmahamaprameyam
Mana Prabhu ! tumko apna sakha,
Na prabhav jana kabhi aapka.
Prem aur pramad mein bhar ke hee,
Kaha kuch bhi maine ho tumse kabhi.
Sotey, jagte, khate, hanste huey,
Akele ya kisi ke bhi samne.
Apman mujhse hai kuch bhi hua,
Bhagwn shama uski hun chahta.
Unaware of Your greatness and thinking of You as a friend I addressed You out of affection or carelessly as O Krishna! O Yadav! O Friend! In this manner whatever I had spoken thoughtlessly and rashly; O Infallible! (Achyuta) in jest or while at play, sleeping or while being awake, sitting or standing up, eating and drinking, alone or in the company of friends, in whatever way I have shown disrespect for You; O Immeasurable form! For that I beg your forgiveness.

After viewing the cosmic form of the Lord, Arjun is now realizing the difference between his status and that of the Lord! What all I have been addressing Him as, what did I take Him to be and what is His true nature in reality? That is why Arjun is now thinking and saying in this manner-
Where there is intimacy, there invariably this happens. Sometimes due to affection and at times casualy some words are uttered which do not match the status of the person to whom it is addressed. Arjun in any case had an intimate bond with Lord Krishna. Several evidences of this are to be found in the scripture of the Mahabharata. In this kind of relationship it is natural that while addressing and speaking some casual and simple words may be used. Now Arjun feels that he had spoken to the Lord taking Him to be Krishna or Yadav; not just this, in this casual approach what all must have happened or must have been spoken of, for all that I beg your pardon-
Observe inbuilt in this verse the expression of positive inspiration. Arjun was in any case the fortunate one. He had closeness to the Lord while sleeping or being awake, eating or drinking, sitting or standing, while moving around. There were jokes and teasing talks. In such a situation such words or address do not fall in the category of offence; even then, Arjun considering it to be so is begging the forgiveness of the Lord which is not improper. Humility should be maintained. Knowingly or unknowingly any mistake or error, impropriety can be there. There is nothing wrong in asking the Lord forgiveness from for the same. I am doing everything well and I am perfectly all right; one should never make such a claim!
