indriyārtheşu vairāgyamanaşhankāra eva ch
janmamṛtyujarāvyādhiduḥşkhadoşänudarśanam
Ho jaye vairagya vishayon se jab,
Ahankar bhi nashta ho sab ka sab.
Janam, maran, rog aur budhapa hai jo,
Bharen inme dukh dosh yeh dhyan do.

To give impetus to the spiritual dedication of the seeker this is an extremely significant verse. The one who desires speedy upliftment, to take away the inclination from the world and make contemplation of the divine or meditation as the centre of existence, he should keep this verse as the ideal inspiration in front of himself-
'Indriyarthesu vairagyam' dispassion from all the sensual objects! Dispassion is not a state to be feared. Dispassion implies lack of attachment! By constant enjoyment of sensual objects neither the senses nor the mind ever gets satiated; on the contrary they cause peacelessness. Neither the senses have the same constant capacity to enjoy nor do sensual objects remain the same in nature; then the hope of peace through them-is it not hoping against hope? Deliberate on this again and again! Protect yourself from enchantment of the sensual objects. There should be no attachment to sensual pleasures, no longing; this is dispassion.
"Ahankar eva ch' There should be no trace of egoism, it is one of the greatest obstacles on the spiritual path. There is nothing in the body or anything else to be arrogant about. What kind of egosim should be there in connection with the transitory and perishable body as well as the material sensual possessions! If the mind is not becoming aware then delve deeply into the idea conveyed by the second half of the verse. Observe carefully.
'Janmamrtyujaravyadhidukhadoshanudarsanam' Birth is associated with the body. Where there is birth, happiness surely will be there; but sometime observe the silent state of the newly born baby! First of all for approximately nine months the embodied being finds himself hung upside down in the womb; how many terrifying sufferings and then the state at the time of birth! It is not known since how many births and till how many births....! Taking birth to die and dying to take birth. At the time of death the embodied being attached to the body and the world or limited to 'Iness and myness' when has to depart leaving everything, what a pain, what a miserable state!
Not just this till the time the body lasts; between the span of birth and death is old age and various types of ailments. In old age when the body gets debilitated and the power of the senses dwindle, there is no capacity to perform any task; how and in what form can this state be the state of pleasure; think! Remembering the days of childhood and youth, the misery aggravates and if the Lord forbids, the very people of one's own family who have been nurtured by oneself, start behaving in an adverse manner; then the grief will be unlimited.
'Shariram vyadhi mandiram' Several ailments are associated with the body! At the time of illness the state of the body is miserable.
The hurdle on the path of knowledge or devotion of the Formless and Attributeless divine is identification with the body. Without rising above egoism and attachment to the body, the acquaintance with the essence of the knower of the field is not possible. The joy of knowledge cannot be experienced. Give a thought to this reality pertaining to the body. This verse is not meant to strike fear or to take one towards dejection, but it is for understanding the reality for the enjoyment of supreme bliss. Whosoever has come into this world, this state is a natural one. All bodies have to undergo this order of the cycle of time; then why should one have arrogance in this regard and why should there be craving for sensual objects? Think, deliberate and move ahead with the inspirations from the Gita:
