💬 Commentary English

In the previous verse guidance has been given for non-attachment towards the body and sensual objects. Here the expansions of relationships associated with the body-being non-attached towards son, wife, home, etc! The word 'adisu' deserves a special thought. Son, wife and home, etc. means that not just son, wife or home, but all else connected with them.

Relatives are there, relationships are bound to be there; but one should understand and deliberate that all relations are of the body, by the body and till the body lasts. Before the body came into existence the relationship was not there, and after the body has fallen they will not continue to be relatives; then why is this deep attachment in the middle? Keep reflecting again and again on the 28th verse of the second chapter! Fulfil the relationships with happiness and with good feelings thinking them to be prior destiny; but at the same time be aware inside. All these relationships arise due to the bondage of previous indebtedness. They are based on the weak foundation of selfishness. They are meant for departure after meeting. My demand of lasting mental peace cannot be achieved by these fleeting relationships and associations-think in this manner and remove the attachment which is inside towards them. Along with word 'asaktih pay special attention to the word 'anabhisvangah'-the inner oneness of the relations. To feel in this manner "that I cannot live without this"! Think that the world in which we are, meeting and parting is inevitable. Though it may be possible that one may not meet somebody yet it is impossible that after meeting there is no parting. For this reason understand seriously this inspiration from Gitaji.

The world has both desirable, undesirable, favourable and unfavourable aspects. If one gets attached to the desirable or favourable then in undesirable or unfavourable circumstance difficulty is bound to be even mindedness in both! Detached approach will make possible this state. Accept that all is that of the Lord and is from the Lord!
