💬 Commentary English

How to meditate on the Lord and where? This verse from this point of view is an important inspiration for the seeker. The Lord is of the nature of supreme illumination. The illumination of the sun, the moon, stars, fire is due to the illumination of the Supreme. 'Sab kari param prakash joyee, Ram anadi avadhpati soyee' (Ram Charit Manas) The one who illumines all is Ram, the beginningless and Lord of Avadh. In the twelfth verse of the fifteenth chapter of the Gita the Blessed Lord Himself has given a similar explicit indication. One can also take it in this manner–the consciousness or illumination which is responsible for the functions of intellect, mind and senses has for its origin the illumination of the consciousness of the divine. 'Tamasah paramucyate'–transcending the darkness of ignorance! One can never imagine darkness in the sun. There is only radiance and darkness and radiance can never be together. The Supreme is of the nature of knowledge and there can be no state of ignorance. The Supreme is knowable and also the essential reality worth knowing. The features of knowledge which is being discussed from the 7th to the 11th verse, in connection with which it has been specified that "etat jnanam' this is knowledge, by adopting those very means in life one can attain that Supreme Reality– How to attain Him? 'Hridi sarvasya visthitam' He is seated in the hearts of all. There is no necessity of seeking Him at a distant place. Develop this spirit. When He dwells in the hearts of all then certainly He is in mine too. Get immersed in meditation inside yourself and you will find all there. The light of all lights and the ultimate source of all knowledge! All is inside! Then what holds you back? Get know that knowable (avasim dekhi jogu–Manas) (Inside I have had a vision of the one who is worth knowing). What is to be gained by knowing? See the following verse–
