In the space are all other elements like air, water, sun, earth and space. But it is subtler than all these and unaffected by them. When there are duststorms space does not get dusty and does not get washed by rainfall. Space does not disappear at the time of sunset and does not appear at the time of sunrise. It is totally unaffected by the functioning of these elements!
The Self is a much more subtle and pervasive power. It also is unaffected by virtues and vices, favourability and unfavourability. The Self is totally uninvolved with the pleasure-pain or any favourability, unfavourabiity experienced by the body; there is not the least bit of impact on it. It is an extremely tranquil, permanent and blissful power. It transcends the effect of the predispositions and the circumstances and is totally untouched.
