📜 Translation English

This soul is unmanifest, unthinkable and it is said to be immutable. Knowing the soul as such O Arjun You ought not to grieve.

💬 Commentary English

Though the soul is beyond the limits of any type of definition, even the speaker of the Gita is trying to illustrate the nature of the soul in His own manner. The soul is unmanifest, implying that unlike the senses, body, or any outside objects it cannot be viewed by eyes made of flesh; it is even beyond the thoughts of the mind though the thoughtful reflection is helpful in experiencing it in essence. The changes take place in body, mind, nature but the soul is entirely immutable, beyond mutations. Grief is due to confinement to the limits of the physical bodies. On understanding the soul principle in this manner there is no question of grief.
