📜 Translation English

They having enjoyed the vast heaven, on exhausting their merit return to the world of mortals. In this manner, those resorting to the injunctions of the Vedas for the accomplishment of their desires and are desirous of pleasures are subject to the cycle of birth and death.

💬 Commentary English

Human life is precious and rare to attain. The attainment of heaven may be good, but cannot be the aim of life. There, sensual enjoyments are available in abundance; the life span will also be greater. The ability to enjoy sensual pleasures will also be greater but the end result..? Will contentment be attained by sensual enjoyments? Will there be termination of the cycle of going and coming from this world? No! As soon as the merits of good deeds will get exhausted, again return will take place to the world of death. One goes to the hotel and enjoys a sumptuous meal; remains in the spirit of eating, drinking and being merry; but once the money is exhausted, what happens? One has to come out of the hotel. Similar is the situation here:

Human birth and the world of mortals is better from this point of view. As in this life and this world one can add to one's accumulated virtues and by uniting the mind in the spirit of the divine one can even achieve the state of liberation. This advantage does not exist in any other type of birth or world. Heaven and the bodies of the gods can be good from the viewpoint of sensual enjoyment and supremacy; but one cannot acquire fresh merits in this state, then how can the question of working towards liberation arise? There all the virtues acquired on this earth and by this body, on enjoying it get exhausted and on its being completely exhausted once again the same cycle begins; the same world of death, the same cycle of coming and going from this world. Then why should an effort not be made that in this very birth one should attain the joy of divine love and divine grace? Make your mind immerse in the divine spirit; the result of this..! The uniqueness of the divinity of the Gita:
