💬 Commentary English

This indication has also earlier been given in the inspirations from the Gita. The Gita is in no way a scripture which advocates renouncing of action, but motivates one to perform action in the spirit of renunciation. What kind of renunciation? This question naturally arises. This verse is the answer to this question.

This is the ideal form of renunciation! There is nothing wrong nor there is bondage or defect in performing action if action is performed by understanding its real nature. The snake is also one of the inhabitants of this creation. Its poison remains a terrifying indication for all. Due to the presence of poison one feels scared of the snake; allow its poisonous teeth to be taken out, then observe. The snake will become a child's play; no fear whatsoever will remain. Perform action; actions in any case are to be performed. Actions in themselves are not the cause for problems or bondage. Understand the problem relating to action; due to which it becomes a bondage. These are the poisonous fangs associated with actions. They are-attachment and desire for fruit! Extract these poisonous fangs; action will become a sport. It will no longer have the power to bind; renunciation of this kind has been given preference by the Gita. While performing action one should neither be attached to it nor to its fruit. All belongs to the Supreme, is happening due to His power. Maintain such an attitude! Attachment will not be there. Such renunciation of attachment and desire for fruit, as per the Gita is satvic renunciation.
