💬 Commentary English

The bliss inside Sanjay appears to be leaping or surging forth out of him. If you reflect on this, it will seem that it is natural too. This is not confined to the limited boundaries of the world! Whatever happiness is obtained from the world will always be limited. There is a limit to the pleasure which can be drawn from the senses and the objects from which the senses are eager to derive pleasure; their capacity to provide pleasure is also limited. But here the discussion is of the boundless; thoughts are directed to the limitless and the joy is of viewing the unlimited vast form of that limitless.

That Sanjay could comprehend the essential nature of Shri Krishna, this kind of indication is found to occur several times in the Mahabharta. Here is the direct vision of that essential nature, that too in its vast form–this was, in fact a very stunning state. That he could get the opportunity to listen to the dialogue. This too was not of small importance, but he had good fortune of viewing the cosmic form of the Lord–this was unparalleled experience in itself! That is why in the previous verse where Sanjay has described the dialogue as marvellous, now in the same spirit he has termed the vision of the cosmic form as extremely wondrous (rupam atya adbhutam hareh)! 'Hrsyami ch muhurmuhuh'. 'Vismayo me mahanrajan'–Sanjay is wonderstruck and is in state of extreme astonishment. Shri Krishna is not just the charioteer of Arjun nor is He just an ordinary child playing in the courtyard of Nand and Yashoda; He is the Absolute; this was known to Sanjay, but the divinity of the cosmic form and along with it several aspects of it which appeared to be terrible sights; all gods and all worlds, the entire universe all contained in it. Not just this, a horrifying mouth and fearsome tusks, all beings being grounded by them, all warriors too, viewing all this it was natural for Sanjay to get amazed. Amazement mixed with joy and elation is also there as Sanjay could never have imagined that it would be his good fortune that it would become possible for him to view the supremely majestic vast cosmic form of Shri Krishna–reflecting on this too Sanjay gets wonderstruck and at times feels elated.

The surging of bliss was certain. The organ, the mind which is experiencing it, is limited, has its boundaries, the elation is due to the vision of the unlimited. Time and again its overflow is but natural. The picture is engraved on the canvas of the mind; whatever is dwelling inside it is bound to be remembered time and again. If the world persists in the mind, then it will be remembered repeatedly and then will stress, worry, unrest frequent us. The more the Lord is remembered, the more will be the intensity of joy, ecstasy and thrill as a natural consequence! Salutations to this good fortune of Sanjay! Adorations for these divine emotions of Sanjay!! Reverence for the surging ecstasy being experienced by him time and again. Loads and loads of adorations for imbibing the sermon of the Gita and its principle aspect in the form of the vision of the Divine and for making it an enthusiastic inspiration for readers and listeners also in this form!
