💬 Commentary English

Keep on observing the profundity of the Gita's inspirations even in the form of the glories of the Lord. It should not be taken in this spirit that the Lord is just enumerating names for the sake of formality. We should delve deep and see where lies the spiritual lesson from the contemplative angle. All this is an inspiration to pull our thoughts out of the worldly impurities and to give it a divine turn.

Snake Sheshnaag is in itself heavenly. According to the Bhism Parv of the Mahabharata its origin is also from the Lord Himself. Sheshnaag endowed with one thousand hoods assuming the form of the bed of the Lord provides comfort to Him, on several occasions taking birth along with the Lord he performs the role of an assistant in His divine sportive plays; due to this he is one of the manifestations of the Lord. Varun is the lord of all water beings and water deities too; that is why amongst water beings he is one of the glories of the Lord. In the Shiv Purana there is a mention of seven manes and Aryama is the chief amongst them. For this reason the Lord is accepting him to be His manifestation. Amongst those who govern Yamaraj is the manifestation of the Lord. He ascertains the fruits of evil and virtuous deeds of all beings in an impartial manner. His governance is fair and just and imbued with righteousness.

Keep on reflecting. In the series of glories described, there is no aspect of it which cannot be associated with the Lord. Take any of the class of beings whether living in water, earth or in the air-

Faced with various difficulties and tortures his devotion towards the Lord never waned. He is the epitome of the highest form of devotion and firm conviction in the Lord. For this reason the Lord called Prahlad as His manifestation amongst the demons. The reckoning of the moment, few minutes, day, week, month, year in the science of astrology is done in accordance with time. The calculation in Mathematics, of period and time is done in accordance with this. In this form time has been called by the Lord as His manifestation. The lion is the most powerful, magnificent and bravest amongst animals. Being the king of animals the Lord has counted the lion as one of His glories. Garuda is the carrier of the Lord, is fast-moving. It is believed that when the Garuda flies, there emits the verses of the Sama Veda from the movement of his wings. Garuda is the king of the birds; in the narration of the glories of the Lord, the Garuda attained the glory of being called the manifestation of the Lord when He said that amongst the birds He is Garuda-
