According to the inspiration from the Gita mere practice of rituals and reading of the scriptures and at times which is limited to formality and just fulfilment of norms-this only does not constitute devotion. Devotion is that where the mind abides in the Lord, in the inmost self apart from this nothing else should occur, nor should the mind stray anywhere else. The life is bestowed by the Lord; life is life because of Him-'jeevanam sarva bhutesu' (Gita 7/9) One whose life it is, is dedicated to Him. This life and life force are His and the breath is moving due to Him, each breath is endowed by Him, should be utilised for Him. When this is the state of firmness then it is natural-'bodhyantah parasparam'. If ever two devotees meet then, He will be the topic of discussion; the mind will desire to hear and speak about His divine sportive plays and about His nature (kathayantas ch mam). Truly what a sublime state! On reading, writing, hearing and understanding one feels the thrill; then what to relate about its experience?
Once this kind of devotion descends in our life the mind develops the habit of revelling in the worship of Him; ever constant contentment is ensured! Whatever you perform or your gain in this world, satisfaction is not possible. The constant contentment is possible only on consecrating the mind and life to the ever present Supreme Lord. His discussion, hearing and speaking about Him and taking delight Him is possible. Try to do this! Do not confine this inspiration from the Gita to just reading it; try it out; experience it and find out whether such spiritual contentment is experienced or not.
There is no question of it being so. Awaken your faith. This nobility of life awaits you. Mould the daily routine in accordance with the divine directive and see its glory-
