💬 Commentary English

Where there is love, intimacy naturally is also found. In this kind of closeness, the secrets start getting revealed by themselves. See it in the practical, worldly, familiar, social perspective. You will find the same experience yourself. Where there is in the least a critical attitude towards you, if one lacks faith in you, or entertains a feeling of doubt, has a fault-finding attitude towards you, is contemptible of you, you will never reveal your deepest thoughts and emotions of the mind to him. In any case Arjun does not entertain a critical or fault-finding attitude towards the Lord. He is gripped by his own mental ailment; but his love for Lord Krishna does not require any separate introduction. Before the situation of the war arose, the Mahabharta has been witness to expression of several such emotions. For the purpose of seeking help for warfare both Arjun and Duryodhan approached the Lord. Arjun had asked for the Lord Himself; he did not have the least bit of interest in the army or arms and weapons. If the Lord Himself is with him, then everything is acquired and everything is all right and will be so; this faith exhibits single-pointed dedicated affection. Even in the moment of dejection and turning away from duty, the dialogue of Arjun with the Lord, and from time to time raising queries to Him speaks for the indwelling love for the Lord.

The preacher of the Gita has used the word 'priyamanaya' with the same intention. Where there is love then the feeling of doing good ensues naturally. In any case the Lord can do only good. How can one imagine darkness in the sun? The Lord can never do harm to anyone. Where there is affection the intention, of welfare is clearly seen-that too not once but again and again.

The parents do not wait for the child to ask so that they May do good to him! And the child who has the feeling of faith and is full of affection, reverence towards the parents, for him there is a special attachment. The parents will in any case desire the welfare of the children, but for the one who are neutral, indifferent and who do not have complete respect and emotions for them, towards them the innermost feelings will not get expression. This is a very straight and practical matter of life. Here the matter pertains to the feelings of the Supreme Father of all-

Arjun remained silent. It does not matter how the Lord felt. The Lord is aware of his feelings. Deluded he is definitely but he is His and wants to remain so. For resolving his doubts also he does not want to approach anyone else (Gita6/39). for this reason Shri Krishna is using the words 'bhuya' and 'eva'. The Lord has an inner affection for the devotee. That devotee need not be just Arjun; he can be anyone; he can even be us. Allow your inner affection to become single-pointed towards the Lord. Leave the rest to Him and keep on listening with concentration His supreme secretive words of welfare. Keep on reflecting and contemplating.
