Chapter 10 — Vibhuti Yoga

Verse 12-13

II Arjuna uvaacha II

param brahma param dhāma pavitram paramam bhavān

puruşaṁ śaśvatam divyamā-didevamajam vibhum


āhustvāmṛṣayaḥ sarve devarșirnāradastathā

asito devalo vyāsaḥ svayaṁ chiva bravīşi me

🕉 English Translation

Param Brahmn ho tum Param dham ho,

Pavitra param bhi kahe aapko.

Avinashi divya purusha ho tumhi,

Anadi, ajnama, sarvavyapi bhi.


Kehte hain sare rishi aisa hee,

Narad, Asit, Vyas, Deval sabhi.

Prabho! Aap khud bhi toh mere liye,

Swaroop apna bataa yeh rahe.

📜 Translation English

Arjun said-You are the Supreme Brahmn, Supreme Abode, Supreme Purity; as all the sages know you to be the eternal Divine person even the God of gods, unborn and all-pervading.

💬 Commentary English

Similarly, the divine sage Narada, Asit and Deval and the great sage Vyas too make the same statement about You and 'You' yourself say the same to me.

Arjun has full faith in the essential nature of Lord Shri Krishna. In this regard, he does entertain an iota of doubt in his inner-self; such is evident from his various expressions. The verses containing the eulogy of the Divine display clearly his dedication and conviction in the divine-

All creation owes its existence to you and is in You, while living and even after death of the embodied being and similarly in the origin of creation and its existence and after dissolution you are Supreme Brahmn and Supreme abode. Your thoughts, remembrance, devotion removes the accumulated impurities of repeated births and purifies the inner-self, because of this You are the Supreme Purifier too. Prior to creation you were there; even now You are present and in the future too You will remain; because of this you are the primal God and imperishable, even while manifesting in divine sportive play. You are still Unborn. This eulogy only I am stating, it is not so My Lord; but also-

The essential truth is one; therefore the experience cannot be two different ones; experience of all is the same. The Supreme is Supreme Brahmn, Supreme Abode, Supreme Purity, Eternal, Unborn, Imperishable-this is essentially true. The Lord Himself has given this indication in clear words on several occasions with regard to Himself. Several sages, Narada, Asit and his son Deval and the great sage Vyas have also expressed their eulogy for You in a similar spirit. Now Arjun in a tone of greater faith states further-
