Amongst all the yogis, the one who imbued with faith worships Me with his inner-self merged in Me, I hold him to be the superiormost.

💬 Commentary English

The conclusion of the sixth chapter is made in such a loving, sweet and intimate manner. Each yogi engaged in yoga in his own manner and spirit is good. One may be Sankhya yogi, another a yogi employing hard austerities, yet another who performs action with a desire for fruits, etc. But here the discussion relates to the one whom the Lord considers to be the superiormost:

The most significant fact is that in the assessment of the Lord Himself he is the best yogi too! One should feel the thrill on just reading and hearing this. Someone may call another a yogi and this is a normal thing. Here, there may be some selfishness involved or there could be an intention to praise someone in front of him. The fact becomes significant when this is stated by the Lord Himself-'sa mein yuktatamo matah'. For Me such a yogi is the best of all. Who is that fortunate one? The one who is filled with faith. In fact without faith any means utilized is incomplete. The state of inner spirit filled with divinity, feeling of oneness, the feeling of being intimately related to the Lord, for all these faiths act as a bridge. One should feel that the sole basis for his upliftment, welfare, mental peace is the Lord only. In His absence life is not life itself. All the importance and substance of life is with Him only-such a spirit is faith.

Madgatenantaratmana'-those who worship Me with minds wholly dedicated to Me; meaning thereby those whose worship is not a matter of formality or abidance by the rules, for whom worship is not a mere external activity; "madgaten' one who worships Me with his inner-self immersed in Me. Establishing his mental connection completely with Me, worshipping Me. The fact should be well entrenched in the mind that the only one who is mine is the Lord, that I am His and He is mine. In the inner state of the mind there should be no other thought/worry, no worldly desire should persist. The outward activity that of being engaged in worldly transactions and the inner state should be of the yearning that I want the Lord and only the Lord, as the only support for elevating myself is the Lord. He is the only true companion, relative and support in the world and world beyond. The one who worships Me in this spirit steadfastly; the Lord says that he considers such a yogi as the highest of all.

To Conclude:

The chapter is completed! but the matter is not put at rest. The purpose will be achieved only when we resolve to become so. The conclusion of the chapter should be in the form of a new beginning in life. The further journey of life should be with the firm determination of moving from enjoyments to yoga. In this chapter by varied expressions, the preacher of the Gita Lord Shri Krishna has motivated us to become eager in the practice of yoga. He has narrated the entire process of yoga of meditation. Along with the sitting posture, the inner state of mind and the true nature of meditation and then how step by step to withdraw the mind from the world and to single-pointedly establishing it in the thoughts of the Lord. If the mind wanders off somewhere else, then it should be brought back and engaged in the thoughts of the Supreme. What will be gained by engaging it so? It is this chapter's most ecstatic expression that abundant happiness which even the greatest sorrow of the world cannot shake. Even to the extent of balancing the act of eating, drinking sleeping and waking and inactivity-the middle path! The practical questions put forward by Arjun and their inspiring, and encouraging answers given by the Lord; the new light of hope by moving away from despair, truly, this chapter is full of various spectacular and divine inspirations and then is given this emotion-filled inspiration-tasmad yogi bhav Arjun! That is why O Arjun! You depart after becoming a yogi and that too after uniting your mind with Me with reverence!

Thus with the recitation of these divine names 'Om Tat Sat, Divine knowledge (Brahmvidya) and Scripture of Yoga in the Upanishad of the glorious Shrimad Bhagvad Gita, the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Arjun the 6th chapter named as the Yoga of Self-Discipline, stands completed.

Hari Om Tat Sat! Hari Om Tat Sat!! Hari Om Tat Sat!!!
