One has got human birth; it is good to live life thoughtfully. To proceed further in the journey of life blindly, thoughtlessly is not good from any point of view. The grave inspirations from Shri Gitaji are in fact, to motivate one to live life thoughtfully, in a good manner. The 16th chapter is meant for bringing forth the thinking capacity of human beings in a splendid manner. Right-wrong, truth-untruth, the discrimination on these issues is the higher state of deliberation. First is described the aspect of what is worth doing in life; but now is indicated what is improper, meaning what is not worth doing.
Whatever one does not have to display that; to relate and show more than what one has, is hypocrisy. The attitude of displaying oneself which is entirely contrary to what the reality is, in the context of the demoniac state is called hypocrisy. To consider oneself superior by acquiring in any form worldly wealth, prosperity, status and objects, honour or to feel oneself be great by acquiring perishable objects is arrogance. Such conceit gives rise to arrogance. I own such a lot; that is why I am so great, is the state of being conceited; to consider others as inferior and desiring respect from others also comes in the definition of conceit. The turbulence or resentment which arises inside one on not getting satisfaction or appeasement is anger. The arrogant person desires everything to go his way. This is not possible. That is why with arrogance is found, anger. It is an extremely inflammatory tendency! Due to this tendency the nature acquires rudeness and hard-heartedness; this is harshness. What is behind all this, is the ignorance of the embodied being, which does not allow one to understand where one's advantage or disadvantage lies. The state of ignorance keeps the being turned away from reality. The dispositions arising out of ignorance like hypocrisy, pride, anger, hard-heartedness draw one towards animalism. That is why the Blessed Lord has named it as the demoniac estate.
