Verse 13

idamadya mayā labdhamimam prāpsye manoratham
idamastīdamapi me bhaviṣyati punardhanam

Paya hai aaj toh bas itna hee,
Ho jayege puri yeh iccha bhi.
Dhan itna ho gaya hai apne paas,
Hoga abhi aur rakhe yeh aas.

They think in this manner that today I have gained this; further more, I will attain what I have in mind. I already have so much and I will further acquire more in future.
Such a situation is normal in a life; one lived under the subjection of inclinations. All propensities like passion, anger, greed, delusion, egoism, jealousy, aversion, competition-somewhere or the other-are related to one another. Sometime some propensity is overwhelming and at other times some other inclination is predominant. The propensity which prevails at a particular moment, the same kind of feelings will surge inside and similar will be the conduct! Here the description is of the increase of the inclination of avarice and the state arising thereof.
On the increase of avarice, the desire for wealth and material objects associated with it keeps on rising and surging. Even to the extent if there is a routine of worship and reading of the scriptures, inside will prevail thoughts-I have acquired so much wealth; so much more should be required. One factory is working well; now the business should be expanded. The thoughts of the Lord should have also grown, the feeling of gratitude for His grace in this form should have grown; but this is not the case here! With the increase in the gain, there is an increase in the greed and also desire; thoughts and worries remain centred on their attainment!
