The one who also at the time of his death gives up his body remembering Me alone, he attains My actual being; there is no doubt about it.

A magnanimous truth of the eternal tradition is that just as the state of the mind is in the last moments of life in accordance with it is the attainment of life beyond. How can the Lord be known in the last moment? By remembering Him. The end of the life. There is no alternative to it. The state of the highest gain of life is when! In the last moments of life, memory of the Lord is there and on giving up the body His attainment!
The words 'ch' and 'eva' deserve special deliberation. In the end moments My remembrance only. During the entire life the remembrance of the Lord persists but if this state gets disturbed in the last moments and the mind starts wandering even then the purpose will not be served. If during one's lifetime, one does not remember the divine and expects that at time of death one will be able to do so this too is not possible in the last moments and Previously also, if the Lord was remembered, then in the end moments also the tendency is the same! 'Mameva' only My remembrance! This does not mean that attention is divided between something here and there and in between it is diverted to the Lord! The inclinations should not lie anywhere else. Wholly My remembrance, completely single-minded remembrance!
Remember; this is only possible with prior practice. Practice too should not be restricted to just verbal and oral activities, not limited to just the rosary. If the remembrance of the name is limited to the beads of the rosary or to just speech alone or limited to any other activity of the senses then one will lose remembrance when that very sense organ loses its power to function. The practice should be from the deeper realms of the mind! The spirit and nature should be imbued with the Lord. The spiritual feelings should reach the depths of contemplation! All is due to Him, and in that, if He is experienced, then only in the end moments too it is possible that the memory of the Lord will persist.
If this has been made possible then what will be the end result? The Blessed Lord says: 'Sa madhbhavam'-He certainly attains My state; there is not the least bit of doubt. The preacher of the Gita is appearing to be so committed towards His words. It would have been enough for Him to say that those who in the last moments too remember Me, they are definitely united with Me. He has added that there is no doubt about it too. In fact this is to strengthen the faith of the embodied being. Doubts and suspicions invariably persist. If this does not happen, such suspicions somewhere or the other cause the faith to waver. The wavering faith is unable to commit itself to the spiritual path or to worshipping in a determined manner. The embodied being due to the persistence of doubts, despite striving, is not able to attain the above-described state! From this point of view the indication given by the Lord is of the utmost importance. Take it in positive sense and engage yourself firmly in the remembrance of the name; you must do it; the time is opportune and this inspiration provided by the Gita is a golden opportunity.
It is true that the one who remembers the Lord will attain Him. But all will not be able to do so; what will be the fate of others? The following verse is a generous thought of Shri Gitaji:
