One has worshipped with reverence and gave time to it also, but the intelligence was not fully evolved! The motivation was desire! With the objective of the attainment of worldly indulgences and material objects was performed, worship, reading of scriptures and religious undertakings. The fruits were obtained but were temporaty! Such inspirations from the Gita require to be read with carefulness, should be understood and deliberated upon! The preacher of the Gita is trying to acquaint the embodied being with such types of aspects. Year after year and at times even life after life one's sphere of devotion remains limited to worship, reading of scriptures and to performing religious activities. Even after a lot of efforts one remains much wide of the goal! Think from this point of view how essential this wonderful inspiration from the Gita is. It delves deep into the reality!
'Alpamdedhasam'-Little or low intelligence is not an abuse nor is it according to the Gita a disease requiring treatment or cure from a psychiatrist! On having competence and not being able to take right advantage of it; being in the state of acquiring much but being unable to get much! In simple terms by the means of the mortal body one can attain the immortal Lord; but to go on desiring for the perishable objects, the Supreme power being within one's reach to be limited to the momentary pleasures-is the state of petty intelligence. The intellect is not fully utilised as it is used for the worship of the various dieties and that too for the procurement of the perishable objects! While the body remains, the mutable and perishable pleasures are pursued and after giving up the body attaining the world of gods, from where one has to again return to this world of death! Come and let us recognise the divinity of the Gita! Experience the commitment of this holy scripture towards the upliftment of the embodied being! Take full advantage of this human birth, the source of even the gods (ahamadirhi devanam) Gita 10/2. Be devoted to the Supreme Lord without any motive whatsoever! To procure and protect the needs of His devotees is His divine promise to carry out. Mental peace is assured during lifetime and after giving up the body 'madbhakta yanti mamapi'. His attainment, betterment of this world and the one beyond is accomplished. The meaningfulness of this life is assured! Such large-heartedness, such an open assurance, the matter is absolutely clear; but even then why the embodied being desists from worshipping the Supreme. In the tone of the preachings of the Gita somewhat suprising but displaying profoundity is the next verse:
