Supremely kind, gracious, benefactor without motive, the Lord's fierce and harsh attitude is, in fact, most surprising. The use of words like evil doers, foolish, lowest men amongst them does not emanate naturally from Him. But Lord Krishna is the Supreme Player of the universe. This is also a form of His sport for the benefit of people at large. The Lord is not harsh and cannot be so; but the being has to be brought on the path of righteousness in any case. It is not acceptable to Him at any cost that His imperishable part, the embodied being should remain distant from Him. If the son accepts with affection then it is good; otherwise, the father sometimes has to show his fierce side; just for this reason that the son should remain on the right path. In this context, view this seemingly harsh but essential and caution-filled statement of the preacher of the Gita which is however, in accordance with the state of the embodied being-
Subjection to maya i. e. life dependent upon the worldly sensual tendencies! The direct result of this is that the discriminating power of the intellect gets veiled fully. The wrong appears right and the attention does not go towards what is right. Desire, anger, greed, attachment and egoism, etc. such tendencies overpower life because of which nature becomes demoniac. Sometimes arrogance, at other times anger and their consequence in the form of cruelty, frenzy; under their influence the actions which ensue are lower than not just humans but even that of animals! In the context of such a situation the Divine singer of the Gita is using harsh words like evil doers, deluded and lowest amongst the men.
Such a situation invariably can be seen in today's society! Sometimes one feels startlingly grieved at seeing the terrible deeds of mankind. It does not seem possible that a human can act so. At that time one remember such verses of the Gita and harsh words used in them! Then in the inner state is a deep silence, gravity...and in that state the Lord feels the need for the embodied being to seek His shelter, Parth! Belonging to Me they do not seek My refuge and indulge and entangle themselves in some or the other base deeds somewhere or the other! In fact the Lord desires that by any means, ways the embodied being should remain His and take refuge in Him! Observe the large-heartedness towards the seekers of the shelter of the Lord who seek Him in any of the ways.
