II Shree Bhagavaanuvaacha II
mayyāsakţamanāḥ pārtha yogam yuñjanmadāśrayaḥ
asamśayam samagram māṁ yathā jñāsyasi tacchrņu
Mann jiska asakta mujme hua,
Parayan mera yoga mein jo lagaa.
Jaise mujhe puraa woh jaan le,
Sunn mujhse Arjun! Tu ab dhyan se.
The Blessed Lord said:
O Parth! With the mind attached to Me and single pointedly dedicating yourself in yoga to Me, the manner in which you will know Me without any trace of doubt,
hear that.
Please fill out the form below and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
This inspiration is not just meant for Arjun, but it is meant for me, just meant for me; firmly establish yourself in such a thought at the commencement of the chapter! The Blessed Lord is in any case displaying His natural and simple affectionate side. With such a spirit one will feel more intimacy, feeling of oneness and attraction towards the Blessed Lord. This is a universal fact, that towards whom one is attracted and inclined that becomes the centre of attachment of one's mind. It is imperative now to disentangle the mind from the worldly indulgences. The biggest hurdle in the path of spiritual upliftment is this only. Now one has to see, understand and think at the earliest of the means to make the mind turn towards the Lord.
'Mayyasaktamanah'-the Blessed Lord is beginning the seventh chapter in a tone of greatest intimacy, with this emotional motivation; become the one whose mind is attached to Me! It is good if the mind has remembrance of the Lord; but oneness of the mind with the Lord is the glory of devotion. Whomsoever the mind is inclined to, it is natural to have longing and desire for him-'sangatsanjayte kamah' (Gita 2/62). the inner state should take this form. If there is desire in it, it should be for attaining God; if there is dedication, it should be of His name; even forgetfulness of Him and separation from Him should weigh heavily on the mind, that should cause the mind to get upset, not the gain or loss of the world; this is what is attachment for the Lord.
'Yogam yunjanmadasrayah'-be dedicated to Me while engaged in yoga. The words of the Gita are found to be beautifully coordinated. If the life is spent by taking refuge in the world, then the world will be the only centre of attachment. It is impossible that the shelter of the world is taken and attachment is for the Lord! For this reason clarification is given simultaneously. If the desire is to be in union with Me and if I am to be attained, then refuge should be taken in Me and then attachment will also be towards Me. While engaging in worldly conduct the firm conviction in the mind should be-that I belong to the Lord and He is mine.
What will be the result of this? O Parth! You will come to know Me fully without any doubt:
The use of the word 'asanshyam' shows the love-filled expression of the Krishna of Gita. Arjun standing in front of the Lord, is the representative of the embodied being filled with reverance and faith. He falters and wavers. The main aim of the inspiration from the Gita is to strengthen the state of faith. Not a trace of doubt should remain in the mind and the mind should be strongly inspired to become more inclined towards the Lord; for this reason the Lord at the commencement of the seventh chapter is giving this affection-filled indication. O Parth! Think the Lord, you are seeing Me as your charioteer at present; prior to this you have seen Me in various roles! But now grasp this in essence that this entire creation and the universe is from Me, in Me and I am in all of them. If the mind clings to the world then it will be bound by the narrowness; it will take the world to be all; but as soon as the mind turns towards God, and the mind immerses in the vast, then it will come into experience naturally the Supreme and His vast empire. One will feel that the world is not all, but the Supreme who has created and is governing the world is All in All.
By saying 'tacchrnu' the Lord has asked Arjun to hear about Him in an integral manner. Taking this matter further, the Deliverer of the Gita sermon, presents the glory of the preaching before eager seekers through the medium of Arjun:
