Satva, rajas and tam-all three qualities have different states, have different expressions, and their effects too are different! Rajoguna is of the nature of attachment. That which causes one to cling on while seeing, hearing, eating or while engaging in any other action. On seeing an object getting attached to the sight of it. On eating anything getting enamoured of its taste. This is the nature of rajoguna-
You can grasp the implication of this verse about the effect of rajoguna, if one finds oneself getting very easily attracted to visible objects. Attraction is also the very natnu of rajoguna and under its dominance desires, cravings and attachments grow further. The more the attachment, the more will the desires be. 'Sangat sanjayate kamah' (Gita 2/62). Actions will take place for the fulfilment of desires! With action is associated desire; due to desire this cycle will continue. From the seed the tree will emerge and from tree again the seed; it is an endless cycle. This has been acquired; this is further to be acquired and towards this end, this effort has been made; this is being done, this will be done in future; the embodied being remains entangled in this web of bondage of action.
