Four verses of chapter twelve from 8-11 are showing the special generosity of the Lord towards beings. The Lord is obviously most generous. He wants that beings should turn towards divinity by whatever means. Whether he takes refuge of the path of devotion of the Lord with form and qualities or the Lord without qualities it does not make any difference, ultimately one attains Him. The Lord has given such indication in connection with the path of devotion of Formless and Attributeless (12/3-4). Since the path of devotion of the Lord with form and qualities is easier in implementation the devotees of this path have been considered as the best knowers of yoga. The important point to remember is that the devotee of this path should travel towards the goal with determination and enthusiasm. There are several means of devotion to the Lord with form and qualities. According to his state of mind the seeker can choose the means. In this series this is the first inspirational indication.
The being is an eternal portion of the Supreme. He is His and dwells in Him. Despite being His, he does not remain His. He starts belonging to the world. His mind and intellect becomes entangled in the world. Intellect is involved in worldly decisions-I should get this, I should get that. Now I have got this much, Now I should possess more. Sometimes dilemma in taking decisions-it is a natural state of the mind. Whatever way intellect decides, the mind will engage in similar thoughts and plans. Existing in Him the being does not engage his thoughts on Him but wanders in the world of the decisions of intellect and thoughts of the mind. Mostly you will find this state of things in the world. Everybody is living in the world of his thoughts and inclinations. This is the reason why the being wanders, gets tense and loses his peace. Being in the world and involved in it there is no question of one finding eternal peace.
Therefore, there is a strong need for such holy inspirations from the Gita. Transact in the world but be determind for attaining divinity. This is necessary. Without this there is no progress, right intellect and peace. Act in the world. No negligence and carelessness towards duty. Work hard. Whatever one is to gain should be left to God's will. Do not involve yourself in dilemma, disappointment and restlessness. This is the path of fall, turmoil and birth and rebirth. Protect yourself from this. Your intellect should single pointedly have one goal i e. attainment of divinity. Minds should be immersed in this kind of thought. The direction of the thoughts should be towards God. This is the state of the sleeping mind and intellect devoted to God. If the mind and intellect are centred on God, the being is certainly settled in God. The hurdle in between is removed. Now sleeping or waking, relaxing and moving, going and coming, eating and drinking-the inner state of being is dwelling in God. Therefore, in every situation, dwell in God.
In His assurance the Gita's sermoniser on saying, 'Na Sanshaya' 'No doubt' totally removes the state of any dilemma or any expected doubt from its roots. There is no need of the slightest thought whether this will happen or not. Lest it should not be so that one may give up the world and does not attain divinity/divine grace. The Blessed Lord says that there is not an iota of doubt, with firm resolution; become the pilgrim of this path. Do not worry or be in dilemma.
If one is not capable of accomplishing this, the singer of the Gita wishes well more openly.
