🕉 English Translation

📜 Translation English

Hence, Hey Madhav! We are incapable of killing our relatives, the sons of Dhritrashtra, because on killing our own kinsmen how can we be happy?

💬 Commentary English

To kill anybody is undoubtedly not all right, if one does so for one's selfish ends, greed, jealousy, aversion, anger or ego. If the warriors, given the duty to guard the borders of the kingdom, start thinking in this manner there will be a lot of intrusion. The question is not of one's personal ends but the security of the kingdom. Arjun's arguments are completely ridiculous.

It is good that Arjun is at least accepting that the sons of Dhritrashtra are tyrants and oppressors. O Fool! According to the law of Shukra the person who sets things afire, administers poison, ready to attack with a weapon in his hand and the one who forcibly snatches away wealth, land or lady is called an oppressor. According to the law of Manu, any such oppressor whosoever he is, he should definitely be penalized. In context of the Kauravs, these descriptions are befitting. Still Arjun is holding this view.
